Hawaii helped make history in Washington, D.C. Thursday.
Hawaii's congressional delegation was sworn into their respective offices.
Senator Mazie Hirono proudly raised her right hand, taking the oath of office as a U.S. Senator with Vice President Biden.
"That you will well a faithfully discharge the duties of office you are about to enter, so help you God," Biden recited. "I will," replied the new senator.
And with those words some American history...Mazie Hirono is the first Asian woman elected to the U.S. Senate.
